Faculty of Environmental Sciences is a cluster of two departments, viz Geography and Geology. Faculty of Enc. Sc. like other faculties has been transformed from a simple normative entity to an academic statutory body with dynamic role and responsibility. NEP 2020 has bestowed more responsibility in academic administration: adapting new ideas, themes and innovativeness; adding many vibrant components in the teaching-learning-research domain.
Both the Departments impart teaching and research. Department of Geography has a legacy of being a pioneer in many academic and administrative fields and support to University as well as the State of Arunachal Pradesh. Faculty members are engaged in consultancy and project works, guided scholars in multifarious as well as collaborative themes. Department is offering MA/MSc, PhD programme and Post Graduate Diploma in Geoinformatics. Department of Geology is comparatively a nascent Department. It started with B.Sc. Geology programme and it is continuing with it and additionally offering M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes. Looking into the State of Arunachal Pradesh, that has vast areas of terra-incognita, Department of Geology has a better positioning in the North East India.
Both the Departments have good number of alumni engaged in legislative, executive, educational institutions, social sector, entrepreneurship, etc. It has a good record of NET and JRF awardees since beginning. Regular field visits, exposure to modern learning environment make the students and scholars outstanding in their respective fields engagement.
