The Department of Hindi was opened the University Vide Item No.11 of 25th E.C. meeting held on 16.03.1998 and started functioning from the session 1999-2000. Classes of M.A previous started w.e.f 13.08.1999. Now the department is offering Ph.D Programme (Part-time & Regular) along with P.G Course, M.Phil Programme and PG Diploma in Functional Hindi Programme. The Department published a Half Yearly Research Journal “Arun Prabha”.
