From its inception, students from Universities, Colleges and Institutions of higher learning have benefited from the NSS activities, as student volunteers.<\/p><p>RGU NSS Unit is the Rajiv Gandhi University (A Central University) of the National Service Scheme, institutionalized under the Ministry of Youth Affairs &amp; Sports Govt. of India. Our major aim is to motivate students at RGU to indulge in nation building activities through various events and programme which are aimed towards the benefit of people in and around RGU and State in particular. Sharma and headed by two Programme Officers, Mr. Gomar Basar (Asstt. Registrar, Academic) and Mr. John Gaingamlung Gangmei (Asstt. Professor, Dept. of Social Work). They are supported by other faculty Dean of Students Welfare Prof. Tasi Ka. \u00a0The Students body also assist the unit in the organization of various events, programme and projects. We also have dedicated team of volunteers (students) of RGU from various streams\/degrees that participated with enthusiasm and also make the events successful. NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person&#8217;s point of view and also show consideration to other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrined in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-header\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-title-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h6 class=\"accordion-title\">Symbol:<\/h6>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-icons\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"accordion-icon opened-icon\"><i class=\"far fa-angle-down\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"accordion-icon closed-icon\"><i class=\"far fa-angle-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The symbol for the NSS has been based on the giant Rath Wheel of the world famous Konark Sun Temple (The Black Pagoda) situated in Orissa, India. The wheel portrays the cycle of creation, preservation and release and signifies the movement in life across time and space, the symbol thus stands for continuity as well as change and implies the continuous striving of NSS for social change.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-header\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-title-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h6 class=\"accordion-title\">Badge<\/h6>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-icons\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"accordion-icon opened-icon\"><i class=\"far fa-angle-down\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"accordion-icon closed-icon\"><i class=\"far fa-angle-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The NSS Symbol is embossed on the badge. The eight bars in the wheel represent the 24 hours of a day. The red colour indicates that the volunteer is full of young blood that is lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit. Some of our major activities on various social issues ranges from blood donation, shramdhan, immunisation, disaster management, teaching, environmental issues and adventure camp. We also collaborate with several VO\u2019s, NGO\u2019s, GO\u2019s, CSR\u2019s in and around Itanagar on working on these issues.<\/aside><\/div><\/section><\/section>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-header\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-title-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h6 class=\"accordion-title\">Workshops and Awareness:<\/h6>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-icons\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"accordion-icon opened-icon\"><i class=\"far fa-angle-down\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"accordion-icon closed-icon\"><i class=\"far fa-angle-up\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>We conduct several sanitation and cleanliness drives, tree and orchid plantation drive, nature walks throughout the year. They include Need for Rain Water Harvesting Infrastructure expansion, Water Saving measures in the hostels, Greener Transportation through bicycle public transportation, Introduction of the waste management systems in hostels. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrined in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society. Symbol: The symbol for the NSS has been based on the giant Rath Wheel of the world famous Konark Sun Temple (The Black Pagoda) situated in Orissa, India. The wheel portrays the cycle of creation, preservation and release and signifies the movement in life across time and space, the symbol thus stands for continuity as well as change and implies the continuous striving of NSS for social change. Badge The NSS Symbol is embossed on the badge. The eight bars in the wheel represent the 24 hours of a day. The red colour indicates that the volunteer is full of young blood that is lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit. The navy blue colour indicates the cosmos of which the NSS is tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind. Major Activities: RGU NSS Unit has a volunteer base of students belonging to various disciplines and degrees of RGU. Some of our major activities on various social issues ranges from blood donation, shramdhan, immunisation, disaster management, teaching, environmental issues and adventure camp. We also collaborate with several VO\u2019s, NGO\u2019s, GO\u2019s, CSR\u2019s in and around Itanagar on working on these issues. Workshops and Awareness: We conduct several sanitation and cleanliness drives, tree and orchid plantation drive, nature walks throughout the year. Besides, workshops on several themes like AIDS awareness, self defence, legal awareness, beti bachao beti padha, gender sensitization, digital India etc are also organized. Projects: We encourage students to take up projects related to environmental sustainability of the campus. They include Need for Rain Water Harvesting Infrastructure expansion, Water Saving measures in the hostels, Greener Transportation through bicycle public transportation, Introduction of the waste management systems in hostels. Recently we have also introduced Adventure and Mountaineering Club; NSS and Youth Development as an Open Elective Paper for third semester Students for the first time in Northeast India.
